Sofia, 17 December 1996 (RFE/RL) - Police in Bulgaria say they discovered five more highly-radioactive containers in the northeastern town of Isperich yesterday.
The find comes following the seizure of eight radioactive containers in the same town at the weekend. Three people were arrested following the weekend seizure.
The materials included plutonium and Caesium 137, both of which are highly radioactive, as well as several other less radioactive substances.
The head of the local civil defence organisation in the district center of Razgrad said there was a considerable increase in the level of radiation at the site of the seizure.
Police don't know where the materials originated.
