Kyrgyzstan: Brief News Items

Prague, 28 January 1997 (RFE/RL) - The Kyrgyz state energy agency says no agreement on energy supplies will be signed between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan for 1997. Some 97 percent of imported coal in Kyrgyzstan comes from Kazakhstan. Our correspondent from Bishkek reports Agency officials say Kyrgyzstan may in turn have to increase the price ot hydro-electric power it exports to Kazakhstan.
