Prague, 30 January 1997 (RFE/RL) - Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev left Kyrgyzstan for Switzerland today. The Kyrgyz government's presidential press service said Akayev will address the World Economic Forum in the Swiss city of Davos. He will also meet during his visit with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, Swiss President Arnold Koller, and other world leaders.

Foreign Minister To Visit United States



The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said today that Foreign Minister Roza Otunbayeva will leave Kyrgyzstan for the United States tomorrow. The ministry's spokesman told our correspondent that Otunbayeva will take part in a meeting on international loans, held in Washington. Otunbayeva is expected to meet with U.S. envoy to the CIS James Collins, World Bank official Jean Daniel Jerber, and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman.
