Warsaw, 3 February 1997 (RFE/RL) - The chairman of Russia's State Duma, Gennady Seleznyov, continues his visit to Poland and today and tomorrow meets President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Prime Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz and the Sejm Chairman Jozef Zych.
Visiting Krakow yesterday, Seleznyov spoke of good Poland-Russia trade relations, especially between Poland and the Kaliningrad region.
Seleznyov also characterized NATO as an "anachronism."
Poland is among the former Soviet allies in Eastern Europe widely forecast to be invited this year to begin negotiations on NATO membership.
Seleznyov visited Romania last week.
