Warsaw, 21 February 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Lithuania's Parliament Chairman Vytautas Landsbergis addressed Poland's parliament (Sejm) today. Landsbergis told the Sejm: "Lithuania's security is the security of Poland and vice versa."
RFE/RL's correspondent in Warsaw reports Landsbergis said the two countries are strategic partners bound by a common goal - "European and Trans-Atlantic integration, which guarantee peace, security and prosperity."
Landsbergis proposed joint Poland-Lithuania policies and institutionalized cooperation between the two countries. Our correspondent reports Landbergis urged a a permanent bi-lateral parliamentary institution, which would be stronger than either individual body.
