Prague, 25 February 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Our correspondent reports a new political movement has been founded in Kazakhstan. Asylbek Beysenbayev, leader of the movement, to be called the Liberal movement of Kazakhstan, yesterday told a news conference in Almaty that he and his supporters aim to play a right-of-center role in Kazakh politics.

Kazakh Air Company Grounded Because Of Fuel Shortage



Our correspondent in Almaty reports the planes of the Kazakh Air Company have been grounded for three consecutive days because of fuel shortages. Passengers on international and domestic flights are crowding the airport waiting for air traffic to resume.

The Kazakh Air company is reportedly considering raising the price of plane tickets by as much as 50 percent early next month.
