Prague, 25 April 1997 (RFE/RL) - A Tatar parliamentary delegation concluded its first ever visit to France yesterday.
Tatarstan State Council Deputy Chairwoman Zilia Valeeva told our correspondent that Tatar lawmakers discussed their republic's experience in resolving ethnic problems, in organizing civilized relations with federal authorities in Moscow, as well as Tatarstan's economic potential.
Valeeva says Tatarstan, by strengthening contacts with France, is "completely and effectively acting as a subject of international relations."
The Tatar delegation held negotiations with the heads of both chambers of France's parliament as well as with French business leaders.
