Moscow, 25 April 1997 (RFE/RL) - Russia's Federal Border Service Director, General Andrei Nikolayev, is to travel to Dushanbe today.
He is to meet border service chiefs from Central Asia tomorrow to discuss joint efforts to guard the borders of CIS members in the region.
Along with Russia and Tajikistan, the meeting is also to be attended by representatives of Kazakshtan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
Itar-Tass news agency says Nikolayev will also meet Tajikistan's President Imomoli Rakhmonov to discuss strengthening the Russian-led, CIS peace-keeping force on the border with Afghanistan.
