Washington, 1 May 1997 (RFE/RL) - The U.S. Export-Import (ExIm) Bank has approved an $11.7 million loan to finance the purchase of nearly 200 major farm harvesting machines by Ukraine's JSC Ukragrobusiness (UAB).
An ExIm Bank spokeswoman says UAB, one of the two largest private companies operating in the Ukrainian agricultural sector, is buying 96 combine harvesters and 96 wheat headers in addition to a number of other smaller machines to help harvest corn, straw and sunflowers.
The ExIm Bank says the equipment will help Ukraine restore its grain production and bolster its export earnings.
