Kyiv, 12 May 1997 (RFE/RL) - Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv for talks with Ukraine's President Leonid Kuchma.

At the airport today, Lukashenka told reporters that he and Kuchma will discuss Ukraine's relations with NATO to clarify Ukraine's position toward the alliance. The two leaders also plan to sign agreements on trade and one on their common border.
