Georgia: Delegation To Visit Uzbekistan

Tashkent, 22 May 1997 (RFE/RL) - A Georgian government delegation led by Minister of State Nicolos Lekishvili is due in the Uzbek capital Tashkent today.

The Jahon Uzbek news agency said the visit is aimed at promoting cooperation between the two former Soviet republics.

Trade volume between Georgia and Uzbekistan was worth about $3 million last year. The two sides have also been seeking to cooperate in the development of the Transcaucasus transport corridor, which links Central Asia to Europe via the Caucasus region.
