Vienna, 16 July 1997 (RFE/RL) - Saudi Arabia has offered half a million dollars to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to help organize the municipal elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina in September.
An OSCE spokesman in Vienna yesterday described the pledge as a "wonderful gift from a country which has no formal association" with the OSCE.
The OSCE is seeking a total of $30 million to organize the election and arrange for international observers to supervise it. The spokesman said about $24 million have already been pledged.
