World: Foreign Ministers To Discuss Asian Developments




Washington, 17 July 1997 (RFE/RL) - Foreign ministers from 20 countries, including Russia, China and the United States, will gather in Malaysia at the end of this month to discuss political and security developments in the Asia-Pacific region.

U.S. State Department spokesman Nicholas Burns said today that representatives of the European Union will also attend the Regional Forum of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Kuala Lumpur.

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will head the U.S. delegation to the three-day meeting, beginning on July 26th.
