Prague, 28 July 1997 (RFE/RL) - Presidential counselor Nicolae Tabacaru was today appointed Moldova's new Foreign Minister. He replaces Mihai Popov, who resigned last Friday on health grounds and was appointed Moldovan ambassador to Paris.
The appointment of Tabacaru was announced by parliament chairman Dumitru Motpan at a news conference in Chisinau.
