Russia: Clinton, Blair Exchange Views

Washington, 10 October 1997 (RFE/RL) - The White House says U.S. President Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony Blair yesterday exchanged views on relations with Russia during a telephone conversation.

Spokesman Michael McCurry said Blair briefed Clinton on his talks with Russian President Boris Yeltsin during a one-day visit to Moscow this week.

Blair was in the Russian capital on Monday and discussed with Yeltsin and other senior officials trade issues, fighting organized crime and drug trafficking.

McCurry said that among other matters, Clinton and Blair exchanged views on the relations of the West with the Russian Federation.
