Rome, 17 October 1997 (RFE/RL) - Italy's Foreign Minister says it's up to Albanians themselves to create the right conditions to ensure that international aid continues to flow into their country, and that trade and investment are stimulated.
Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini was giving the opening speech at an internaional aid conference in Rome to help Albania's economic recovery.
He said the Albanian government must show the international community that its determined to create conditions which will attract aid and investment money.
Attending the conference are delegates from 36 countries and international organisations. It precedes a bigger donor conference set for Brussels next Wednesday. Also in attendance at today's Rome gathering is Albania's Socialist Prime Minister Fatos Nano.
