Yerevan, 21 October 1997 (RFE/RL) - The Armenian parliamentary faction "Social State" demanded today that Parliament hold hearings on the current state of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
The group's leader and chairman of the parliamentary committee on social affairs, Gegham Gharibjanyan, said the Armenian Parliament must not be excluded from the decision-making process on resolving the conflict. He urged MPs to take a clear stance on the latest peace plan put forward last month by the OSCE Minsk Group that sponsors the negotiations.
Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrossyan has not yet disclosed details of the plan to Parliament
