Almaty, 24 October 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Kazakhstan's National Statistics Agency has issued new data on average salaries in the country.
According to information issued by the agency yesterday, the average monthly salary in Kazakhstan is around 9,000 Tenge, or $120. Bank and stock exchange personnel make the highest average salaries, at about 18,000 Tenge, or $240. Teachers and doctors have the lowest salaries, at around 6,500 Tenge, or $86.
