Washington, 31 October 1997 (RFE/RL) - The presidents of the United States, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are expected to meet in Washington in December to sign a U.S.-Baltic charter defining America's relations with the three countries.
A U.S. State Department official told our correspondent in Washington the invitations have not gone out yet. But he said the document is ready for signing.
The official said the signing ceremony is expected to take place in the first two weeks of December and the parties are now trying to fix a firm date.
Negotiators last met in Washington two weeks ago and said then that they had resolved most outstanding issues on the charter.
