Bucharest, 6 November 1997 (RFE/RL) - Romania's Cabinet meets today, and an expected government reshuffle this month is expected to be discussed. Our correspondent reports that Romanian media speculation today focuses on ministers likely to be replaced, including several from the senior party in the coalition, the National Peasants Party of Prime Minister Viktor Cirobea.

President Emil Constantinescu is scheduled to meet Monday and Tuesday with Parliamentary faction leaders and union leaders to discuss the reshuffle, and the pace of economic reform.

President Constantinescu Visits Paris



Romania's President Emil Constantinescu is in Paris for a seminar on "Globalization and National Identity." Constantinescu also holds talks with France's President Jacques Chirac, and, tomorrow, Constantinescu receives an honorary Doctoral degree from Sorbonne University. Sunday, he travels to Berlin for a conference on European security.
