Teheran, 14 November 1997 (RFE/RL) - Ambassadors of 12 European states returned to Teheran today, ending a seven-month standoff between the EU and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The ambassadors of Germany and France will return to the Iranian capital next Friday under a diplomatic compromise worked out between the EU and the Iranian foreign ministry.
The EU nations recalled their ambassadors from Teheran last April after a Berlin court implicated the Iranian leadership in the 1992 assassination of four Kurdish dissidents in the German capital.
