Yugoslavia: Donors Meet On Kosovo Needs

Brussels, 28 July 1999 (RFE/RL) - Representatives of many nations and international organizations today started day-long talks in Brussels on ways to rebuild Kosovo before the onset of winter. The talks, organized by the European Union and the World Bank, are to focus on humanitarian requirements of the more than 700,000 refugees who have returned to their homes in the province. Officials say about $300 million in emergency funds are needed immediately. The cost of rebuilding all the houses damaged or demolished in Kosovo has been estimated by the European Commission's team at about $1.2 billion.
