Moscow, 19 December 2000 (RFE/RL) -- Russian news agencies say that a deputy to Moscow's mayor Yuri Luzhkov was wounded and his driver killed today in an apparent assassination attempt by unknown assailants. The agencies say the car carrying Yosef Ordzhonikidze, who is in charge of the city's economic relations, was fired at in the center of Moscow. The agencies say Ordzhonikidze was slightly wounded in his leg and hospitalized.
