Grozny, 20 December 2000 (RFE/RL) -- At least four people died and 10 others were wounded today during a shoot-out in the Chechen capital Grozny. RFE/RL's correspondent reports that all the victims are students of the city's university. The incident occurred in the early afternoon when young people had gathered outside the university.
Meanwhile, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service, Nikolai Patrushev, confirmed today in a interview published in the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily that the FSB has recently arrested Chechen field commander Turpal-Ali Atgeriyev.
Patrushev did not elaborate, but Russian media have said that Atgeriyev, who is also Chechnya's National Security Minister, was arrested late October in the Daghestani capital Makhachkala.
