Moscow, 13 April 2001 (RFE/RL) -- Russian news agencies say a pro-Moscow deputy administrator of Chechnya was killed late yesterday in a bomb attack. The Interfax news agency says Khaz-Magomed Deniev died of wounds after a bomb exploded while he was giving an interview at the television studio in Avtury, southeast of Chechnya's capital Grozny.
Deniev was a senior assistant to Chechnya's pro-Moscow administrator, Akhmad Kadyrov.
Chechen separatists regard pro-Moscow Chechen officials as traitors and have targeted them with frequent attacks.
