KamAZ Reports Successful Year
The KamAZ automotive works produced 845.1 million rubles worth of vehicles and spare parts in December 1999. Final numbers for 1999 were: 1,689 heavy trucks, 2,720 economy cars, and 21,253 engines worth some 6.2 billion rubles and exceeding last years revenue by some five times. The KamAZ press service reported recently that during the last six months the company has paid taxes to local and republican budgets on schedule. The company resumed paying the federal taxes in November.
Transport Prices Rise In Tatarstan
Rail, air, and river transport tariffs were increased 1.58, 2, and 1.5 times, respectively, in Tatarstan starting on 5 January. According to Tatarstan's governmental press service, the rises in transport tariffs are due to the recent increase in the cost of electricity, fuel, and maintenance.
