Vsya Rossia Movement Holds Founding Congress
Tatarstan's President Mintimer Shaimiev and State Council Chairman Farit Mukhametshin attended the founding congress of the Vsya Rossia electoral bloc in St. Petersburg on 22 May, Tatarinform reports. The previous day, Shaimiev told Tatarinform that the "regions of Russia have taken on the mission of promoting a program of development for the Russian Federation" since "none of the existing political movements and parties were able to do it." He commented on the new electoral bloc saying it was "a real and constructive force" that wants to "provide a constructive majority in the Russian State Duma." The congress reportedly adopted the movement's political program.
