Vladivostok Finishes Russia's Longest Bridge

Workers early on April 12 finished assembling the last panel linking the world's longest cable-stayed bridge. The bridge links Vladivostok to Russky Island, which will host a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation bloc.

The bridge over Golden Horn Bay is seen under construction on March 23.

The bridge is part of a series of large infrastructure projects the city is preparing for the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

The bridge is expected to be opened on July 2, when Vladivostok marks its City Day.

Workers finished the bridge overnight on April 12, after delays to construction caused by high winds.
