U.S. Navy Skipper Dismissed Over Drunken Misconduct In Russia

The commander and three top officers of a U.S. Navy frigate have been relieved of duty after being found guilty of drunken behavior and misconduct during a recent port visit in Russia. Commander Joseph R. Darlak was relieved of command of the "USS Vandegrift" in Guam after an investigation determined that several of the ship's officers had been drunk and disorderly during a visit to the Russian port of Vladivostok in September.

"The Navy Times" called it the fleet's first mass firing stemming from a liberty port visit since March 2011.
