President Vladimir Putin has named Maksim Oreshkin as Russia's new economic development minister, Russian news agencies report.
Oreshkin, 34, has served as deputy finance minister since March 2015.
The previous economic development minister, Aleksei Ulyukayev, was detained two weeks ago and charged with accepting a $2 million bribe in exchange for approving the purchase of a stake in a regional oil company by the state-owned Rosneft corporation.
Ulyukayev, who denies the allegations, is being held under house arrest until his trial.
Ulyukayev became the highest-ranking Russian government official to face arrest since the time of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
He had served as economic development minister since 2013.
