Afghan Army Helicopter Crashes, 13 Killed


HERAT, Afghanistan (Reuters) -- An Afghan Army helicopter has crashed due to bad weather in the western province of Herat, killing 13 soldiers, including a senior army officer, a provincial governor said.

The helicopter was en route from Farah Province when it went down in the Adraskan district of neighboring Herat, Farah's governor, Rohul Amin, told Reuters by phone.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
