Building In North Ossetia Evacuated After Bomb Threat

VLADIKAVKAZ, Russia -- The municipal administration of North Ossetia's capital has been evacuated from its offices following a bomb threat.

RFE/RL's North Caucasus Service reports that an anonymous caller told the Vladikavkaz mayor's office that a bomb had been planted there. The building was evacuated and police began searching the premises.

The situation in Vladikavkaz, in Russia's volatile North Caucasus, has been tense for some time. Some 12 people died on November 6 when a minibus exploded in the city center. Police blamed the attack on a suicide bomber whose identity has not yet been established.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
