Earthquake Shakes Southeastern Iran

TEHRAN (Reuters) -- An earthquake measuring 5.3 shook Kerman Province in southeast Iran, state radio said, adding that it had not received reports of any casualties.

Iran, the world's fourth-largest oil producer, is crisscrossed by faultlines and often experiences earthquakes.

Kerman is not near Iran's main oil and gas producing region, which is mainly on the western side of Iran.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
