Iran Women Rights Activist Sentenced To Lashes

An Iranian court has reportedly given women's rights activist Nasrin Afzali a suspended flogging and jail sentence for disturbing public order.

The reformist "Etemad" newspaper quotes Afzali's lawyer, Mohammad Mostafai, as saying his client was sentenced to 10 lashes and a six-month jail term. Afzali was arrested in March 2007 during a protest in Tehran.
