Swedish police have detained a man on a Pakistan International Airlines plane that made an emergency landing in Stockholm after Canadian authorities received a tip that a passenger was carrying explosives.
Stockholm police said the man, described as a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin aged about 30, was detained on suspicion of preparing aircraft sabotage.
Police said that no explosives had been found on the man.
Stefan Radman, the head of a special Swedish police squad, told the media that specialists were searching the plane, "but so far we haven't found anything, neither on the plane nor on the man. They are working with the luggage."
Officials say there were 273 people on board the Boeing 777 plane, which was bound from Toronto to Karachi when the pilot asked to land at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport.
