Rosatom Offers India Share In Major Uranium Deposit

Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom has offered the Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL) a 49-percent stake in one of Russia's largest uranium deposits.

Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko, who is currently in New Delhi, announced the offer and said he expected UCIL to buy at least a 25 percent stake in the Elkonsky uranium deposit in Yakutia.

Kiriyenko also said the first block of India's Kudankulam nuclear power plant, being built with Rosatom's help, will be put into operation soon.
