KYIV (Reuters) -- Ukrainian state energy firm Naftogaz has said it has fully paid Russian giant Gazprom for gas imported in February, before a March 7 deadline.
"Payment to Gazprom has been completed," Naftogaz spokesman Valentyn Zemlyanski said by telephone.
In a statement, Gazprom confirmed the payment.
The Russian company said earlier that Ukraine's February gas debt totaled $360 million.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin earlier warned Gazprom would cut off supplies to Ukraine should Naftogaz fail to settle the bill.
