Kidnapped Afghan Female Deputy Released In Prisoner Exchange


A female Afghan lawmaker kidnapped by militants three weeks ago has been released in a prisoner exchange.

A Taliban spokesperson said on September 7 that Fariba Ahmadi Kakar had been exchanged for four female and two child relatives of Taliban officials held by the government.

Afghan officials and Kakar's relatives also confirmed her release.

Kakar was kidnapped on August 13 when travelling by car in the volatile eastern province of Ghazni.
