Afghan officials say at least 14 people were killed when a civilian vehicle hit a roadside bomb in southern Kandahar Province.
Dawa Khan Meenapal, a spokesman for the provincial government told RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan the deadly incident happened on the outskirts of Kandahar's Maywand district on April 7.
Meenapal said foreign troops had blocked the main highway after a separate suicide car-bomb attack there earlier, prompting the vehicle to use a dirt road, where a homemade explosive device was planted.
The suicide car bomb attack had targeted a convoy of NATO troops.
Meenapal said there were no serious casualties in that attack.
