Suicide Bomber Targets Afghan Intelligence Office

A suicide car bomb attack has been reported in Afghanistan.

Officials say the bomber targeted an intelligence agency office in the eastern city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar Province.

Two guards were reported killed and three wounded.

A car drove up to the gate of the compound used by the National Directorate of Security early this morning and exploded.

Nangarhar government spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said the building was also damaged.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack.

Shortly before the Jalalabad attack, an assailant detonated a van packed with explosives at a highway police checkpoint in Logar Province, also in the east.

Deputy Police Chief Rais Khan Abdul Rahimzai said that explosion wounded three police officers but no one was killed.
