WATCH: Snowden Says He Was A Trained U.S. Spy

Fugitive U.S. intelligence leaker Edward Snowden says he has been "trained as a spy" and worked "undercover overseas" for intelligence agencies.

Speaking in an interview in Moscow with the U.S. television network NBC, Snowden hit back at claims that he was merely a low-level contractor.

He said he worked at "all levels" -- "from the bottom on the ground, all the way to the top."

He also said he worked as "a technical expert" for the CIA and the National Security Agency, as well as a trainer for the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Snowden, 30, was charged in the United States with espionage after leaking details of secret government surveillance programs that gathered information on e-mails, phone calls, and Internet use in the United States and around the world.

He is living under temporary asylum in Russia.
