A modern sculpture depicting Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler praying on his knees has sold at an auction in New York for $17.2 million.
The price for the May 8 sale was a record for a work by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. The controversial 2001 piece -- entitled Him -- looks like a praying child when viewed from the rear, but is clearly Hitler when seen from the front.
The previous record for a piece by Cattelan, 55, was $7.9 million.
