French President Emmanuel Macron led tributes to the millions of soldiers who died during World War I, in a ceremony attended by dozens of world leaders. U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were among those who joined Macron to mark the moment guns fell silent across Europe a century ago on November 11, 1918. In his speech at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, Macron recalled the horrors of the war and what led to it, and said "nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism."
