A woman has been pulled out alive from the rubble of a garment factory building in Bangladesh that collapsed more than two weeks ago.

Rescuers said they had given up hope of finding any more survivors when they heard her call for help.

She had no apparent signs of injury when she was brought to the surface.

Rescuers said the woman, identified as Reshma, had been trapped in a basement.

She apparently survived on whatever food she found in the area and limited quantities of water.

More than 1,000 people have been confirmed killed after the factory building outside the capital, Dhaka, collapsed on April 24.

The disaster focused attention on poor working conditions in Bangladesh's garment industry, which provides clothing for major retailers around the globe.
