Belarus Suspects Detained After Blast Near KGB Building

VITSEBSK, Belarus -- Reports from Belarus say three suspects have been arrested in connection with a disturbance caused by some sort of primitive explosive device in front of a regional KGB building.

The Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB) said on November 12 that a device had detonated near the KGB headquarters in the eastern city of Vitsebsk late the night before.

Two windows were shattered in the incident.

No more details were given.

Meanwhile, authorities in the Hrodna region in western Belarus said that a local man with criminal record has been detained for an alleged attempt to sell 14 handmade explosive devices to a resident of the capital, Minsk.

Last week, unknown assailants threw at least two Molotov cocktails at the Lithuanian Embassy in Minsk, causing minor damage.
