Russian doctors say Bolshoi Theater Ballet artistic director Sergei Filin's recovery from eye surgery is proceeding without complications two days after a masked man threw acid on his face.
Reports a day earlier had suggested he could lose his vision in one or both eyes.
Filin was attacked late on January 17 near his Moscow apartment.
Moscow officials said on January 19 that Filin has been transferred from intensive care to a regular hospital room in Moscow.
They say there is no reason for now to transfer Filini to a specialized clinic for burn victims in Belgium, as had been suggested.
Bolshoi Theater General Director Anatoly Iksanov said he thinks the acid attack on Filin was linked to his work with the ballet company.
A Bolshoi spokeswoman said Filin had received threats in the past.
Filin, a 42-year-old former Bolshoi star dancer, was appointed artistic director at the Bolshoi in 2011.
