Sarajevo Prepares for Pope Francis
The Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, is decked out with posters for a one-day visit by Pope Francis on June 6. Souvenir stalls selling hats, T-shirts and badges have popped up on the city’s streets, and the Vatican flag fluttered from churches. The Pope has said he will use the visit to pray for peace and inter-religious dialogue. The last pontiff to visit Bosnia-Herzegovina was John Paul II, who went to Sarajevo in 1997 and Banja Luka in 2003.
