Bosnian Muslim Sentenced For War Crimes Against Croats

A Bosnian court has sentenced a former member of the Bosnian Muslim forces to eight years in prison for his involvement in war crimes committed against Croatian civilians.

The Bosnian war crimes court said Enes Handzic, 51, was found guilty of the offenses committed in the central Bosnian town of Bugojno between July and October 1993.

At the time, Handzic was one of the commanders of the military police of a majority-Muslim Bosnian Army brigade.

Although allies against the Bosnian Serb forces for most of the 1992-95 war in the former Yugoslav republic, Croats and Muslims fought in Bosnia for almost a year, between 1993 and 1994.
