The Briefing: Huntsman Steps In

Jon Huntsman, Washington's new man in Moscow

Jon Huntsman, the former Utah governor and former U.S. ambassador to China, is scheduled to present his credentials as the new U.S. ambassador to Russia this week, replacing veteran U.S. diplomat John Tefft.

On this week's Power Vertical Briefing, we look at what Huntsman's tenure will mean for U.S.-Russian relations.

Joining me is RFE/RL's News Editor Steve Gutterman.

Also on The Briefing, Steve and I look at the confusion over the whereabouts of Oleh Sentsov, the Ukrainian filmmaker arrested by Russian authorities in annexed Crimea back in 2015.

NOTE: The Power Vertical Briefing is a short look ahead to the stories expected to make news in Russia in the coming week. It is hosted by Brian Whitmore, author of The Power Vertical blog, and appears on Mondays.
