British American Tobacco Sells Its Businesses In Belarus, Russia

British American Tobacco announced that it has agreed to sell its businesses in Belarus and Russia in the wake of the Kremlin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In a statement issued September 7 on its website, BAT said it has "entered into an agreement to sell its Russian and Belarusian business" to a consortium led by members of BAT Russia's management team. Like many other foreign firms, the group stated its intention last year to pull out of Russia after Moscow launched its assault on neighboring Ukraine in February 2022.
